Hello, my friend!
Postcard stamp

Today I went to the Frauenkirche with my mom and dad. It is a very, very big church in Munich. At first I thought it was a castle for giants, because it has two towers like a fairytale guard. They are so tall that I had to tilt my head all the time, and dad said that if the towers could talk, they would see the clouds every day.

Inside it was very quiet, and our footsteps sounded like someone was whispering to the stone. The columns were so thick that I thought they were holding the ceiling so it wouldn’t fly away. The light was strange – it was bright, but you couldn’t see the windows right away. I thought the church was playing tricks with my eyes, like a magician.

The most surprising thing was near the entrance. There is the Devil’s Footprint on the floor! A real, dark footprint, like someone stepped there and forgot to wipe it away. Mom said the devil got angry because he was tricked. I thought maybe he just stomped his foot really hard, like kids do when they’re upset. I stood on the footprint and tried to find the windows – and it’s true, you can’t see them! It felt ticklish and funny at the same time.

Then we stood quietly and listened to the silence. Sometimes a bell rang far away, deep and slow, as if the church had a heart. I decided that the Frauenkirche is not just a building, but a big stone friend who remembers many stories and likes it when people come quietly and with open eyes.

I wish you could come here too. We would look for the devil’s footprint together and count the echo of our steps.
